Do UV rays or heat from sunlight harm Gutter Foam?
Gutter Foam is UV-stable and resistant to heat and sun exposure.
It has been tested at an accelerated weathering facility at Auckland University, where it was exposed to direct sunlight, heat, and humidity for the equivalent of 6 years. The foam insert retained its shape and structural integrity, with no signs of degradation or breakdown throughout the testing period.
Do birds, rats, insects, or other small animals harm the foam insert?
Vermin and Insect Deterrent Properties
In the USA, foam gutter inserts have been observed to repel vermin. Gutter Foam is designed with an anti-microbial additive that helps prevent the growth of algae and mould. Its snug fit within the gutter also helps with mosquito control by limiting water buildup, making it difficult for mosquitoes to lay eggs or for larvae to develop.
Additionally, Gutter Foam fills most of the space between the roofline and the gutter, helping to block off access points that vermin commonly use to enter roof cavities.
Please note: While Gutter Foam is designed to deter birds, insects, and small animals, it cannot guarantee complete prevention. Some persistent pests may still find a way in.
When it rains does the foam insert become too saturated, to a point where added weight can compromise the gutters themselves?
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.
Will Gutter Foam affect my roof or gutters?
No, Gutter Foam is preferred by Roofing & Guttering contractors because it needs no nails, screws or messy silicones to hold it in place and it will not void your roof & gutter warranty. It allows homeowners to gain easy access to their gutters without damaging their gutters or roofs.
Does water in the gutter run over during heavy rainfall?
Due to Gutter Foam’s unique profile, water will not run back into the soffit area and cause expensive damp problems to the construction. However, we cannot guarantee your gutters won’t overflow during heavy down pours. Much depends on the pitch of the roof, the volume of rain, the size of your gutter in relations to the catchment area of your roof and the efficiency of your down pipes. Generally because Gutter Foam keeps your gutters clear of debris, your gutters are far less likely to overflow with Foam than without it.
Does Gutter Foam need to be cleaned?
Maintaining Gutter Foam is far easier and less messy than traditional gutter cleaning. Leaves and other debris will gather on top of the foam insert, a good portion will usually dry up and blow off with the wind, however heavier debris or stubborn leaves may require manual removal. We have experienced that some build-up of debris will not affect the performance of Gutter Foam. We recommend you have a period check of the foam inserts and if any signs of clogging show, take the precaution of blowing the eaves off, or hosing them off.
Can strong winds blow Gutter Foam out of the gutter?
If the right Gutter Foam size is fitted correctly it will not blow out, even in strong winds.
Does Gutter Foam affect my drinkings water?
No, after passing through Gutter Foam, rain water is unaffected by the foam insert. The product has undergone rigorous testing against the National Health and Medical Research Council’s Australian & New Zealand Drinking Water Guidelines (ADWG); the Australian and New Zealand Environment and Conservation Council (ANZECC) Guidelines for Fresh and Marine Water Supply; and World Health Organization (WHO) Guidelines for Drinking Water. Testing confirms that nothing leaches out of the foam that is harmful to humans, animals or the marine environment.
